Capacity

CAPACITY noun The maximum amount something can contain; the amount something can produce. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

What's your capacity right now?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Mine? Minimal. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I don't know why. All I know is my body is speaking, and I'm listening. Everything is a pared-down version of itself right now.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Dinners must be quick. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Bedtimes early. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Weekends even quieter than usual.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I reserve my energy for work mostly. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I listen to and watch things that don't over-stimulate and make me think, think, think. There's simply not the space for it right now.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now isn't the time for learning.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I can sense withdrawal. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It's what I do when everything feels a bit much and my brain is full. I retreat from everything and everyone. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I don't have answers. Nor energy for conversation.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I'm not down; it's not that. I'm just responding to signs that my body is at limited load right now. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I retreat to restore. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
No great lesson here or wisdom for the ages. Simply a reminder not to always expect the same output from yourself. We can't operate irrespective of our own seasons or our wider environments.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now, more than ever, your body needs you to co-operate, not coerce. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Listen to your capacity.
